How do I know an exterminator is licensed?

Every company here holds an active FDACS pest control business license. The number is on each listing, and FDACS will tell you a company's written complaint history for the last three years.

Who actually tents my house?

Tenting needs the fumigation category, which 720 companies hold. Many pest companies sell tenting and hire a fumigation company to do it, so ask who will be on your roof.

What should I check in a pest control contract?

How long it runs, whether it renews on its own, and what it costs to cancel. Door to door sign ups and agreements that renew every year on their own are the most common complaints Floridians post.

Retreat or repair termite bond?

A retreat only warranty pays to treat again, not to fix damage. A repair bond costs more and has conditions. Ask which one, and whether it covers drywood and Formosan termites.

Who pays for pest control in a rental?

In Florida apartments and condos, Florida Statute 83.51 puts extermination on the landlord unless the lease says otherwise in writing. Ask the landlord before you hire anyone.

Why do rats keep coming back?

Traps catch the rats already inside; roof rats keep coming through gaps in soffits and barrel tile. Ask whether the price includes sealing entry points and how long that is guaranteed.
